Questions & Answers

What is Raptitude Field Trip?

Raptitude Field Trip is a mini-course intended for readers of the Raptitude blog, but anyone can do it.

I'll teach you seven simple mental tools you can use to enrich your daily life, all based on classic Raptitude posts.

You and the other Field Trippers will do all seven practices over a three-week period, while (optionally) discussing your experiences in the forum.

The current cohort runs from February 10 to March 2, with a new lesson released every third day.

I will be doing the course with you!

Is this a sequel? Do I need to have done the first one?

RFT 2 is a standalone course. You don't need to have done the first one.

It's the same format as the first, only with different exercises.

What will the Field Trip do for me?

The practices in the Field Trip are designed to trigger moments of insight -- moments in which you’ve stepped outside your habitual ways of viewing life, yourself, or other people.

Most people get something out of most of the exercises, but have different favorites. It’s impossible to know how a practice will affect a given person, because our habitual ways of seeing differ so much.

Some effects you might notice:

  • a deeper connection to other people

  • a greater sense of agency and freedom

  • the feeling that you're an integral part of time and history

  • an expanded sense of what's possible in a day, a year, or a lifetime

  • a measure of peace with difficulty or uncertainty

  • a richness and profundity in ordinary experience

  • gratitude for still being alive

  • feeling more at ease in the world

Raptitude Field Trip 2 is a series of experiments, not a prescription. You might bounce off some exercises completely, have fleeting glimpses of perspective with others, and a few might resonate deeply. That's why we're doing a series of them. Different minds will have different insights, and there's nothing in particular that's supposed to happen.

How much time does it take?

Reading a lesson, including the blog post it is based on, will take about 10-15 minutes. There are seven in total.

The practices themselves can be done anywhere, and take anywhere from a few seconds to a few minutes.

Once you learn a practice, you're encouraged to try it in different situations during day-to-day life, experimenting with them throughout the course period and thereafter.

When does it happen?

The Field Trip begins February 10, 2026 and ends March 2.

New lessons will be unlocked every third day, starting on the 10th.

Ideally you will do all seven lessons over that three week period, so that you can discuss them with me and other participants on the discussion board.

You will have open-ended access to the lessons though, so you can take as long as you like.

Do I have to participate in the discussion forum?

No, it's optional. You can do the exercises on your own and get a lot out of it.

I still recommend you at least visit the forum, even if you don't post, to see what others are doing with the exercises. You can learn a lot from your fellow Raptitude readers!

I also hang out in the forum daily and can answer any questions.
